About the Kids

Kids with Guns' co-Artistic Directors, Mike Klar (left) and Ben Cikanek (right) have been producing critically acclaimed theater together in New York City since 2003. Past productions include The Night Carter Was Bad (2008), An Octopus Love Story (2007), The Blue Martini (2006, 2003), Conference Room A (2005), and Spring and Jake (2004).

Mike, originally an Art Director in advertising, came to New York by way of the University of Delaware where he studied Visual Communications. Ben graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BS in Business and studied and performed at Improv Olympic in Chicago before moving to the city. Neither had any experience in theater (or any intention of falling in love with it) when they produced their first show at Under St. Marks in the East Village in 2003. Today, they are both gainfully employed by New York City's pop-icon, Kidrobot.

The Kids have no mission, per se, but it is notable to point out that all of their productions have been romantic comedies, and each has featured at least one graduate from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. The Kids are grateful for the ongoing support and generosity of their fans and friends, but especially for the financial support provided by James Eun Lim, Robert Patrizi, and their loving families.
